Softball Recap: Oak Grove Drops Season-High Score on Indian Springs

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oak Grove). They never let the Indian Springs Student get on the board and left with a 24-0 victory on Tuesday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by seven runs or more this season.

Gracie 'Sassy' Renz made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Oak Grove got a massive performance out of Aleah Dye, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Dye a new career-high in RBI (three). Gracie Hess also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Oak Grove has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-13 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Indian Springs, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oak Grove will challenge Sumiton Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Indian Springs, they will be playing at home against Fairfield at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
