The Montoursville Warriors will face off against the Athens Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Montoursville's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Athens' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Montoursville came out on top against Loyalsock Township on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Warriors took their contest against the Lancers 5-1. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Lancers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Jimmy Mussina was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other pitching news, Logan Kirby tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
Mussina wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Royce Bowes, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Brayden McCourt also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Athens came up short against Hughesville on Thursday and fell 9-6.
Brendan Cooke made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Troy Rosenbloom was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Athens' loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-4. As for Montoursville, their record is now an identical 15-4.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Montoursville has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .495. However, it's not like Athens struggles in that department as they've averaged .474. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Montoursville took their victory against Athens when the teams last played back in May of 2021 by a conclusive 9-2 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
