Baseball Recap: Hutto Find Success

Hutto's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Lehman Lobos. This was payback for the Hippos, who suffered a 6-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Hutto got a great performance from Kalib Wertz as he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. The dominant performance also gave Wertz a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Vanuel Meyer was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Darey Esparza was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Hutto's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

Looking ahead, Hutto will be taking part in a tournament against Coppell at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lehman, they will welcome La Vernia at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.
