Basketball Game Preview: Yreka Miners vs. Orland Trojans

The Yreka Miners will head out on the road to square off against the Orland Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Yreka knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Orland likes a good challenge.

Yreka is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 76-49 win over Pierce. The victory continues a trend for the Miners in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Orland, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They breezed past Central Valley to the tune of 65-38 on Tuesday. With the Trojans ahead 35-13 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Orland's win came from a few key players Yreka will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jayden Thompson, who went 5-for-7 on his way to 16 points and five boards. What's more, he also posted a 67% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January of 2024. Preston Carlson was another key player, putting up 12 points and four steals.

Orland was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They racked up seven more assists than Central Valley's also-impressive total of 12.

Yreka's record now sits at 12-17. As for Orland, their record is now 20-9.

Yreka came up short against Orland in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 65-57. Can Yreka avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
