Skyview hasn't had much luck against Bishop Kelly recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Hawks will take on the Knights at 5:00 p.m. The last four games Skyview has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Skyview challenged Vallivue on Wednesday. The Hawks fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 8-7. That's two games in a row now that the Hawks have lost by just one run.
Paisley Hicks was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 4-for-4. Makayla Lytle was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Bishop Kelly entered their tilt with Caldwell on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Cougars. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Margaret Acuna made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Kingsley Shea was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaynie Burke, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Bishop Kelly's record is now 13-3. As for Skyview, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Skyview hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .352. However, it's not like Bishop Kelly struggles in that department as they've averaged .405. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Skyview might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Bishop Kelly when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
