Basketball Game Preview: Holy Name Green Wave vs. Elyria Catholic Panthers

Holy Name is on a four-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, Elyria Catholic a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The Holy Name Green Wave will welcome the Elyria Catholic Panthers at 6:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Last Tuesday, Holy Name had to suffer through a 87-56 loss at the hands of Lutheran West. While losing is never fun, the Green Wave can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 630th, while the Longhorns are ranked 28th).

Meanwhile, Elyria Catholic played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Padua Franciscan 83-49. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-23.

Holy Name's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Elyria Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

Holy Name barely slipped by Elyria Catholic when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 70-69. Does Holy Name have another victory up their sleeve, or will Elyria Catholic turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
