Softball Recap: Lower Dauphin Sets Scoring Season-High Against Palmyra

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lower Dauphin). They put the hurt on the Palmyra Cougars with a sharp 16-1 victory on Monday. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Lower Dauphin got a big performance out of Sydney Matincheck, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Matincheck a new career-high. Samantha Gallick was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Lower Dauphin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palmyra only posted a batting average of .111.

Lower Dauphin's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Palmyra, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season.

Lower Dauphin will have a chance to go back-to-back against Palmyra: the pair will be back at it again later today.
