Edison came out on top against Carteret on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run fifth inning. The Eagles blew past the Ramblers 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Jenna Fugate and Callie DiBisceglie made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Fugate tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, DiBisceglie pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Fugate has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. At the plate, Fugate went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double, while DiBisceglie went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That double was DiBisceglie's first of the season.
In other batting news, K Harkins was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nalini Parekh, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Edison always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carteret only posted an OBP of .250.
Edison pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Carteret, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.
