Baseball Game Preview: Branford Buccaneers vs. Union County Fightin' Tigers

For the second straight game, Branford will face off against Union County. The Buccaneers will challenge the Fightin' Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Branford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

Branford heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Monday. They came up short against Union County, falling 9-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Buccaneers have suffered since March 28, 2024.

For Union County's part, Brezdyn Browning made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Browning also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Union County is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 11-13 otherwise. Browning was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, DEVIN DIGGS was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeffrey Brugh, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Branford's loss dropped their record down to 21-8. As for Union County, their record now sits at 13-14.

Union County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Branford hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323.
