On Saturday, Benilde-St. Margaret faced Alexandria in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Benilde-St. Margaret's Red Knights fell just short of the Alexandria Cardinals by a score of 83-80. The Red Knights' defeat signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.

Alexandria's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mason Witt led the charge by going 6 for 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 23 points. Witt's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Talan Witt, who went 9 of 18 en route to 22 points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Benilde-St. Margaret's fell to 11-1. As for Alexandria, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Benilde-St. Margaret's will head out to challenge Chaska at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chaska knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully Benilde-St. Margaret's likes a good challenge. As for Alexandria, they will face off against Brainerd at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
