Softball Recap: Greenbrier West Find Success

Greenbrier West was not the first on the board on Saturday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against the Buffalo Bison by a score of 9-5. This was payback for the Cavaliers, who suffered an 8-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Kyndall Taylor made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Brooke Patterson and Jenna Hunter did most of the damage at the plate: Patterson went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Hunter went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Hunter a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Preslee Treadway, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Greenbrier West's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Buffalo, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greenbrier West will welcome Webster County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Buffalo, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Nicholas County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
