Softball Recap: Ottawa Wins Going Away Against Louisburg

Ottawa barely beat Louisburg the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cyclones put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 12-2 victory on Thursday. The Cyclones might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by eight runs or more this season.

Kathy Gillett was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Abbigail Eversole was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Gillett wasn't the only one making solid contact: Ottawa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive games.

Ottawa's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Louisburg, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Ottawa will square off against rival Bonner Springs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Louisburg is set to face off against their familiar foe Spring Hill at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
