Baseball Game Preview: Chouteau-Mazie Wildcats vs. Colcord Hornets

The Chouteau-Mazie Wildcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Colcord Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Chouteau-Mazie has given up an average of 10.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Chouteau-Mazie managed to slip by Summit Christian Academy the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Chouteau-Mazie lost 14-6 to Summit Christian Academy on Tuesday.

Lucas Grossman was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Colcord ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They skirted past Afton 8-7.

Chouteau-Mazie has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. Colcord's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2.

Chouteau-Mazie suffered a grim 20-8 defeat to Colcord when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can Chouteau-Mazie avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
