Recap: Oakwood Eagles vs. Rocky Mount Academy Eagles
This season hasn't been kind to the Oakwood Eagles, who are still winless after their 13th matchup. They took a serious blow against Rocky Mount Academy on Friday, falling 78-19. Oakwood has struggled against Rocky Mount Academy recently, as their match on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Rocky Mount Academy found their leader in underclassman Gehrig Miller, who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Miller has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hank Berry, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Oakwood bumped their record down to 0-13 with that defeat, which was their 14th straight on the road. As for Rocky Mount Academy, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oakwood's road trip will continue as they head out to face Northeast Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Hopefully Northeast Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday. As for Rocky Mount Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Harrells Christian Academy at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
