Baseball Recap: Chino Valley Starts off Right with Win over Arizona Lutheran Academy

Chino Valley had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They had just enough and edged out the Arizona Lutheran Academy Coyotes 5-4.

Freddie Garcia was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Garcia was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryan Lamotte, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chino Valley will be taking part in a tournament against Shadow Mountain at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Arizona Lutheran Academy, they will take on Odyssey Institute in a tournament on Thursday.
