Basketball Recap: Oliver Bowne Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Concordia Lutheran

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. Thomas Catholic, St. Pius X was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 58-41 victory over the Concordia Lutheran Crusaders. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Crusaders recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

St. Pius X's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Oliver Bowne, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine assists. That's the most assists Bowne has posted since back in November of 2024. Derrick Carroll was another key player, going 7 of 10 en route to 17 points and five rebounds.

Bowne wasn't the only one working in the assist department: St. Pius X was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Concordia Lutheran only posted eight assists.

Concordia Lutheran lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ghaven Mittal, who scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Coleman, who put up 12 points.

St. Pius X's victory bumped their record up to 14-19. As for Concordia Lutheran, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 16 contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-25 record this season.

St. Pius X does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Concordia Lutheran, they have already played their next game, a 74-45 defeat against Village on the 11th.
