Softball Recap: Midland Extends Winning Streak to Six

Midland had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Odessa Bronchos. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 19 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Bree Battenfelder made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Avrey Ochoa was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Marley Porter, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Midland's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 27-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Odessa, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-19.

As of now, neither Midland nor the Bronchos have any future games scheduled.
