Baseball Recap: Manchester Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

Manchester had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Powhatan Indians. With that win, the Lancers brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Manchester got a great performance from Kelton Taylor as he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Taylor has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Easton Butts was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Maddox Caddell was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Manchester's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Powhatan, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Manchester and Powhatan will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matches. The next time Manchester sees the field they'll take on Clover Hill at 5:00 p.m. on April 8. As for Powhatan, their break will end when they face Varina at 6:00 p.m. on April 8.
