Basketball Recap: Academy of Excellence Falls to Maranatha Baptist in First Game of Season

Academy of Excellence unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 55-33 to the Maranatha Baptist Crusaders on Friday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Despite the loss, Academy of Excellence still got an impressive performance from Obrayan Gonzalez, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesus Burgos, who scored six points.

Academy of Excellence wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 71-29 loss against Early View Academy of Excellence on the 18th. Maranatha Baptist has also already played their next matchup (against Wisconsin School for the Deaf), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
