Soccer Game Preview: Bryan vs. Copperas Cove

The Bryan Vikings will head out to face off against the Copperas Cove Bulldawgs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bryan's last four matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Bryan is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Madisonville two weeks ago. Bryan fell just short of Madisonville by a score of 1-0. The Vikings' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Copperas Cove hasn't lost a match since January 3rd, a trend which continued in their latest game on Tuesday. They never let Killeen onto the board and left with a 2-0 win. Given the Bulldawgs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 179th, while the Kangaroos are ranked 642nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ayo Shoroye and Kevin Antero-Torres scored both of Copperas Cove's goals, bringing their combined season tally to seven goals.

Bryan's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Copperas Cove, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2-1.

Bryan took their win against Copperas Cove in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bryan since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
