Baseball Recap: Kingsville Comes Up Short

Kingsville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 7-2 to the Lakeland Vikings. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 8-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Kingsville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Mullins, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Mullins' first of the season.

Kingsville now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Lakeland, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kingsville will face off against Leeton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lakeland, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Early at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
