Basketball Recap: Mia Galassini's Big Game Can't Quite Lead St. Cecilia Academy over Davidson Academy

St. Cecilia Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost to the Davidson Academy Bears on the road by a 55-37 margin. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Scarabs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-30 back in November.

Several Scarabs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mia Galassini, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. That's the most points Galassini has posted since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Mj Payne, who posted 11 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, St. Cecilia Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in eight consecutive matches.

St. Cecilia Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Davidson Academy, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

St. Cecilia Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 60-34 defeat against Trousdale County on the 21st. As for Davidson Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 50-28 win against University School of Nashville on the 21st.
