The Apollo Hawks will face off against the Boulder Creek Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
Apollo lost 16-6 to Dobson on Thursday. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Taylor Veloz was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three runs. Another player making a difference was Whitney Chrisman, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Meanwhile, Boulder Creek entered their tilt with Westwood on Thursday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. Everything went their way against the Warriors as they made off with a 10-1 victory. Considering the Jaguars have won five contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Kinsey Wilcox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Boulder Creek got a big performance out of Bailey Kerr, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Kerr is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Paris Harman was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.
Boulder Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matches.
Boulder Creek's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Apollo, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Apollo has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. However, it's not like Boulder Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Apollo might still be hurting after the 7-1 loss they got from Boulder Creek in their previous meeting back in March of 2015. Can Apollo avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
