Basketball Recap: Trenton Gets the Win

Trenton hadn't done well against Carlson recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Trenton Trojans narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Carlson Marauders 56-54. This was payback for the Trojans, who suffered a 60-55 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Carlson lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Matt MacBride, who went 8 of 13 en route to 19 points. Nolan Burgei also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Trenton is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points per game. As for Carlson, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

Trenton has already played their next contest (against Grosse Ile), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Carlson will face off against Roosevelt at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Roosevelt: they have been struggling with six straight losses at home, while Carlson has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
