Football Recap: Lompoc's Undefeated Season over After Five Games

Lompoc made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Justin Garza, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Braves fell just short of the Guardians by a score of 27-24 on Friday. The Braves lost against the Guardians in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 47-7 score last time.

Although Lompoc took the loss, they still got scores from Del Bueno, Trevor Thompson, and Stone Kubasiewics.

Justin Garza's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bohden Smith led the charge by throwing for 184 yards and two touchdowns. The Guardians' leading receiver Nate Rodriguez was Smith's top target yet again, picking up 120 receiving yards and one score.

Having lost for the first time this season, Lompoc fell to 4-1. As for Justin Garza, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lompoc will host Kern Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Justin Garza, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on San Joaquin Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
