Football Game Preview: Wellesley Raiders vs. Weymouth Wildcats

The Wellesley Raiders will head out on the road to square off against the Weymouth Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Wellesley is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 42 points last Friday, they were much more limited against Natick on Friday. They lost 28-8 to the Redhawks. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts football rankings (they are ranked 56th, while the Redhawks are ranked ninth).

Meanwhile, Weymouth hadn't done well against Needham recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Wildcats walked away with a 22-15 victory over the Rockets.

Wellesley's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-4. As for Weymouth, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.

Wellesley took their victory against Weymouth when the teams last played back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 35-13 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
