Basketball Game Preview: Hayward Farmers vs. Mt. Eden Monarchs

Hayward is 0-10 against Mt. Eden since January of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Hayward Farmers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mt. Eden Monarchs at 7:00 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Hayward is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest loss since January 5, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of San Lorenzo by a score of 51-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Farmers have suffered against the Grizzlies since February 1, 2019.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks on offense in their last four games, Mt. Eden finally came back down to earth on Saturday. They were dealt a 67-21 loss at the hands of Freedom. The Monarchs' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Mt. Eden's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Hayward, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 11-6.

Hayward came up short against Mt. Eden when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 50-46. Can Hayward avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
