Softball Recap: Willcox Now 9-2 over Last 11 Games

Willcox won the last time they faced Benson and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Cowboys were the clear victors by a 17-7 margin over the Bobcats. The Cowboys might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

Willcox got a massive performance out of Gabby Galaz, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. What's more, Galaz posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Donahue, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Willcox was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in six consecutive contests.

Willcox is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Benson, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-10 record.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Willcox is set to challenge their familiar foe St. Augustine Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Benson will square off against rival Desert Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
