Softball Recap: Perry County Central Commodores vs. Lawrence County Bulldogs        
        
		
            
 Perry County Central had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.4 runs), and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They had just enough and edged the Lawrence County Bulldogs out  10-8. Perry County Central's victory was all the more impressive since Lawrence County was averaging only 1.96 runs allowed on the season.
  Kaitlyn Grigsby made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off   six  hits. Grigsby has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. Grigsby was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-3 with a  home run.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Alyssa Dixon, who  scored three  runs and  stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was  Lauren Morris, who  scored two  runs while going 2-for-4.
 Like Perry County Central, Lawrence County also got a great game from a two-way player:  Brooklyn Ellis. On the mound, she  struck out nine batters over  six innings while giving up  three earned  (and seven unearned) runs off   eight  hits. Ellis was also stellar in the batter's box,  firing off two  home runs and five  RBI while going 2-for-4.
 In other batting news,  Danielle Crum made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  scored three  runs and  stole two bases while going 4-for-4.  Jada Patton was another key contributor,  scoring a  run while going 1-for-4.
 Even though they lost, Lawrence County  didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and  finished the game with nine  strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Perry County Central only tossed three.
 Perry County Central's win was  their fifth straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 20-9. As for Lawrence County, their loss  ended  an  11-game streak of away wins  dating back to last season and  brought them to 24-2.
 Coincidentally,  the two teams will both be playing Mercer County the next time they take the field. Lawrence County will  host Mercer County at 1:30  p.m.  on Saturday, while Perry County Central will play them later in the day, at 11:30  a.m.
