Basketball Recap: TMI-Episcopal Comes Up Short

TMI-Episcopal was the 54-46 winner over St. Michael when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The TMI-Episcopal Panthers lost 92-67 to the St. Michael's Warriors on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while the Warriors are ranked fifth).

St. Michael's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Will Gasink, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 12 points in addition to eight assists and four steals. The dominant performance gave Gasink a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Broxterman, who went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc on his way to 18 points.

TMI-Episcopal's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-7. As for St. Michael's, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-4.

TMI-Episcopal will square off against Central Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Michael's, they will head out to face off against Antonian Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Michael's knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 19 games -- so hopefully Antonian Prep likes a good challenge.
