The Cordova Lancers will head out on the road to challenge the Oakmont Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cordova will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Cordova turned things around against Grant on Tuesday. They blew past the Pacers 16-4.
Isabella Tarpley-Cruz was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Becca Lee was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Adriana Arana also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Cordova kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 23 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Oakmont got the win against Bear River on Monday by a conclusive 13-5. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Bruins: they've now won six in a row.
Like Cordova, Oakmont also got a great game from a two-way player: McKenna Dutto. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Dutto was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Oakmont got a massive performance out of Chloe Gomes, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. Maria Gonzales was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Cordova's record is now 5-9. As for Oakmont, their record now sits at 12-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cordova has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Oakmont struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Cordova might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from Oakmont in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Lancers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
