Preview: Pike County Bulldogs vs. Opp Bobcats
Pike County is 2-8 against Opp since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Pike County Bulldogs will face off against the Opp Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Pike County rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They walked away with a 69-57 victory over the Warhawks. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Opp can finally bid farewell to their nine-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They came out on top against New Brockton by a score of 62-51. Opp's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Opp's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dorian Harris, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Harris has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Reed Adams was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Pike County's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Opp, their win ended a ten-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-23.
Pike County was able to grind out a solid win over Opp when the teams last played back in January, winning 54-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pike County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
