Volleyball Recap: Monday's Loss Ends Andrew Jackson Academy's Winning Streak

After a string of six wins, Andrew Jackson Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell 3-1 to the Cross Stingrays. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Stingrays earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Despite the loss, Andrew Jackson Academy still got an impressive performance from McKinnley Beard, who had 19 kills, eight digs, five blocks, and five aces. Beard is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last 11 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Carrigg, who had 32 assists and three digs.

Cross found their leader in sophomore Faith Gordon, who had eight digs and two aces.

Andrew Jackson Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 26-8. As for Cross, they have been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Andrew Jackson Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Charleston Collegiate on the 24th. As for Cross, they have also already played their next match, a 2-1 victory against Oakbrook Prep on the 24th.
