After flying high against South Stokes last Friday, West Stokes came back down to earth. The West Stokes Wildcats took a 34-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Randleman Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 14-7 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2023.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lindann Fleming, who rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 41 receiving yards. Aydden Cherry handled things on the ground, rushing for 88 yards.

West Stokes' defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Mikah Webster and Jonah McCoy. Webster also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making six total tackles and defending two passes in addition to snagging an interception.

A big part of the victory came down to the chemistry between John Kirkpatrick and his top target Tyshaun Goldston. Kirkpatrick threw for 248 yards and four touchdowns while Goldston picked up 112 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Goldston got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 61 yards.

West Stokes' defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Randleman, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

West Stokes will look to defend their home field on Friday against East Surry at 7:30 p.m. As for Randleman, they will square off against Bunker Hill at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran up and down the field in their prior games.
