Softball Recap: Morrice Comes Up Short

Morrice had lost ten straight at home dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-9 to make it 11. They lost 22-0 to the Caro Tigers. Having soared to a lofty 27 runs in the game before, the Orioles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Caro, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-11. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Caro's part, Brooklyn Osborn was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Osborn was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Shayler McIntyre and Chloe Malloy did most of the damage at the plate: McIntyre went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles, while Malloy went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those stolen bases were Malloy's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Madalyn Stefanovsky, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morrice will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Bendle at 4:30 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Caro, they will welcome Bad Axe at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
