Volleyball Recap: Westfield Wins High-Profile Contest Against Franklin Community

Westfield faced Franklin Community in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Shamrocks walked away with a 2-0 win over the Grizzly Cubs. For the Shamrocks, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 victory the Grizzly Cubs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Westfield never let Franklin Community on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-26, 25-17.

Westfield got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Evan Huhn out in front who had eight assists and seven digs. Fletcher Farrar also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assists of the season.

Westfield is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for Franklin Community, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.

Westfield has already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Indianapolis Bishop Chatard on the 21st. As for Franklin Community, they will take on Whiteland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
