Softball Game Preview: Christchurch School Seahorses vs. Cape Henry Collegiate Dolphins

The Christchurch School Seahorses will head out on the road to square off against the Cape Henry Collegiate Dolphins at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Christchurch School has given up an average of 12.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Christchurch School is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They lost 19-3 to Fredericksburg Christian.

Teresa Espiritu was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.

Meanwhile, Cape Henry Collegiate got the win against Peninsula Catholic on Friday by a conclusive 17-8. The Dolphins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

Cape Henry Collegiate got a massive performance out of Payton Devalda, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave Devalda a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alex Bernstein, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two doubles.

Cape Henry Collegiate always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Christchurch School's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Cape Henry Collegiate, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-2.

Christchurch School beat Cape Henry Collegiate 9-4 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Seahorses since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
