Softball Recap: Bluffton Gets the Win

Bluffton hadn't done well against Adams Central recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Tigers had just enough and edged out the Flying Jets 6-5. The victory was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Madyson Sonnigsen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Sonnigsen was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Averi Petty was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Krista Blair was another key player, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Bluffton's win bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Adams Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Bluffton will square off against rival Jay County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Adams Central is set to challenge their familiar foe Heritage at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
