SouthLake Christian Academy took a 13-run defeat the last time they faced off against Hickory Grove Christian, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. SouthLake Christian Academy skirted past Hickory Grove Christian 5-4. The victory was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Evan Hogg made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hogg was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run.
Hogg wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Liam Duffy, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.
SouthLake Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.
Concord Academy not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 19, 2024. They were the clear victor by a 15-5 margin over Lee Park Prep. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Like SouthLake Christian Academy, Concord Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Kade Brown. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Brown was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Gray Madeira was a standout: he scored two runs while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. Those runs were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Graham Abercrombie, who scored three runs while going 1-for-5.
SouthLake Christian Academy's record is now 3-5. As for Concord Academy, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4.
Concord Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: SouthLake Christian Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .474. It's a different story for Concord Academy, though, as they've only averaged .341. Will they be able to contain SouthLake Christian Academy's hitters?
SouthLake Christian Academy couldn't quite finish off Concord Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can SouthLake Christian Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
