Baseball Recap: Sheldon Comes Up Short

Sheldon extended their losing streak to 13 on Monday, dropping them down to 1-19. They came up short against the Pleasant Grove Eagles, falling 13-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Huskies of the 8-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

As for Pleasant Grove, they pushed their record up to 8-14 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

For Pleasant Grove's part, Matt Emmons looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Emmons is becoming a predictor of the Eagles' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 6-13 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jaxon Kertel, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Benicio Ayala, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

While Sheldon had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
