Basketball Recap: Gila Ridge's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

If Yuma wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Gila Ridge, they should've done a better job of containing Kayla McCarrell. The Gila Ridge Hawks enjoyed a cozy 53-38 victory over the Yuma Criminals on Friday thanks in part to McCarrell, who went 10 of 17 en route to 24 points in addition to six boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

Ella Gettings was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 8.1 boards per game.

With the win, Gila Ridge broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-11. As for Yuma, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.

Gila Ridge will head out to square off against Kofa at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Kofa will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Gila Ridge surely won't give up without a fight. As for Yuma, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 86-26 win against Cortez on the 22nd.
