Preview: Hamlin Pied Pipers vs. Rotan Yellowhammers
The Hamlin Pied Pipers will head out on the road to face off against the Rotan Yellowhammers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hamlin has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Hamlin scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by Throckmorton at home to the tune of 75-17. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-12.
AJ Rivera and Luke White were among the main playmakers for Hamlin as the former scored 16 points and the latter scored 19 points. That's the first time this season that White scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zane Leonard, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Rotan unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. Their rough 60-35 defeat to Wellman-Union might stick with them for a while.
Hamlin's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Rotan, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-11.
Everything came up roses for Hamlin against Rotan in their previous matchup back in January of 2020 as the team secured a 63-31 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hamlin since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
