Basketball Recap: Mather Takes a Loss

Mather was the 64-58 winner over Francis W. Parker when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Mather Rangers were outmatched by the Francis W. Parker Colonels and fell 63-36. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Rangers have suffered since November 25, 2024.

Despite the loss, Mather still got an impressive performance from Adin Smajlovic, who posted 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Chalwe, who put up six points.

Francis W. Parker found their leader in sophomore Brady Harris, who went 7 of 17 on his way to 18 points and three steals. Harris is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lev Goldman, who earned nine points and three steals.

Mather has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season. As for Francis W. Parker, their victory bumped their record up to 12-10.

Looking ahead, Mather is taking a road trip to take on Schurz at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mather is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.3 points per game this season. As for Francis W. Parker, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Shore Country Day at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: Francis W. Parker has lost three straight at home , while North Shore Country Day has lost three on the road.
