Basketball Recap: Elba Comes Up Short

Elba was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 23rd straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Silver Lake Mustangs, falling 70-25. The Bluejays were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-8.

Ethan Lange and Garrett Wells certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Lange posted 15 points and three steals, while Wells earned seven points and five rebounds. That's the most steals Lange has posted since back in December of 2023.

Silver Lake's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cody Plambeck, who had 11 points. Another player making a difference was Xander Journey, who put up six points and five rebounds.

Elba's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Silver Lake, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Elba will take on Central Valley in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Silver Lake and Gibbon will compete for holiday cheer at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Silver Lake is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.3 points per game this season.
