Baseball Recap: Heritage Takes a Loss

Heritage suffered their closest loss since March 10th on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Apex Cougars by a score of 3-1. The Huskies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

William Leahy was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Andrew Kilgore made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Heritage and nudges their season record down to 7-8. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Apex, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Heritage will host Orange at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Apex, they will welcome Southern Lee at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
