Baseball Game Preview: Greeley West Spartans vs. Fort Collins Lambkins

The Greeley West Spartans will head out to take on the Fort Collins Lambkins at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Greeley West has given up an average of 10.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Greeley West is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Windsor on Thursday. They lost 17-0 to the Wizards. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Wizards recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fort Collins). They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over Loveland on Wednesday. The Lambkins not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 7, 2024 (when they won 20-5).

Kaden Souders was a standout: he fired off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 4-for-4. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Oliver Stanevich, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Fort Collins kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Fort Collins' record is now 6-8. As for Greeley West, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.

Greeley West might still be hurting after the 10-2 defeat they got from Fort Collins when the teams last played back in May of 2021. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
