Recap: Stuart Broncos vs. Boyd County Spartans

The Stuart Broncos waltzed into their game Thursday with three straight wins but they left with four. They strolled past Boyd County with points to spare, taking the game 55-40. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Stuart also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.

Hunter Tubbs was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavynn Mustin, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.

Perhaps the best among them was Derris Hansen, who scored 13 points along with five steals. The match was Hansen's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Charlie Adams was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.

Stuart pushed their record up to 8-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Boyd County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Stuart will be playing at home against Neligh-Oakdale at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Neligh-Oakdale will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 251st, while Stuart is ranked 103rd). As for Boyd County, they will head out on the road to face off against Ainsworth on Tuesday. Ainsworth will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
