Softball Recap: Verdugo Hills Dons vs. Roosevelt Rough Riders
Verdugo Hills had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Roosevelt Rough Riders on Thursday and snuck past 8-7. Winning may never get old, but Verdugo Hills sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Kaitlyn Barba was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over eight innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and not a single walk). Barba has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in four consecutive pitching appearances. Barba was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-6 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Lauren Brink was a standout: she scored a run while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Emily Wagner, who scored three runs while going 1-for-5.
