Softball Recap: Wellsville Lions vs. Ballston Spa Scotties
It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Wellsville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Sunday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the Ballston Spa Scotties. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted since May 12, 2024.
Brynn Hallock and Makenna Dunbar made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Hallock tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Dunbar struck out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. At bat, Hallock went 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI, while Dunbar got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Those triples were Hallock's first of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Averee Palmatier, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
The victory made it two in a row for Wellsville and bumps their season record up to 10-1.
