Baseball Recap: Montebello Takes Down Oakwood in a Playoff Battle

Montebello had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Oakwood Owls a 2-0 shutout on Friday.

Not much got past Fernando Cruz, who gave up just a hit to keep Oakwood off the board.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Michael Rios, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March.

Montebello's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-9. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Oakwood, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-8.
